I went to Hobart for the weekend with most of the family for my cousin Sarah's 21st birthday party. It was my first visit to Tasmania and I found it to be a beautiful, friendly place. I would like to return and spend longer there in the near future.

September Sundays Part II

We finally went to see the Tim Burton exhibition at ACMI. We tried to go a few weeks ago, but when we got there the line went around the corner! Our plan of attack quickly changed; we'll book online and bypass the queue - worked a treat.

It would have been great to be able to get photos inside the exhibition. The amount of drawings, paintings and stories that Burton has done over the years is incredible! Although a lot of his work focuses on macabre themes and subjects, none of it seems overly dark. He has a light hearted way of presenting distressing scenes, like people/creatures being beheaded or poisoned. Quite a talent really.

Early spring, walking through the streets.

Now that I no longer work in the centre of the city, visiting there is much more pleasurable. I began to associate the CBD's shops and cafes with the daily grind; now that we don't see each other every day though, the city and I are much better friends.
